The Drivealyzer prevents drink driving by disabling the ignition of a vehicle if the driver has too much alcohol in their system. Drink driving harms companies, destroys reputations and ruins careers.

Every year headlines are made by bus and coach drivers who have driven under the influence of alcohol, in some cases causing crashes, with passengers suffering injury or death.

Drivealyzer is effective, reliable and can be fitted to buses, coaches and mini-buses without a large initial capital outlay. At a glance:

  • The Drivealyzer ignition interlock is a combined breathalyzer and immobiliser

  • Prevents drink driving - protects passengers, especially children, from inconvenience or injury

  • Protects businesses by reducing the risk of insurance claims, fleet downtime, adverse publicity or prosecution

  • Protects drivers from accidental drink driving or false accusations

  • Gives a competitive edge when tendering for contracts

  • Replacement units provided during calibration

  • Exhaustively tested by the US DoT

  • Fully Inclusive contract hire from just £5 per vehicle/week - or purchase for only £595.

The Drivealyzer is a combined breathalyzer and immobiliser that prevents a vehicle starting unless the driver has less than a pre-set level of alcohol in their system, normally a quarter of the UK drink driving limit.

Children are particularly at risk from drunk in charge bus and coach drivers on their first, early morning shift. Children have less of a sense that something is wrong and less ability to do something about it. Drivealyzer safeguards passengers, drivers and operators.

Using UK-manufactured DART sensors (as fitted to Police-Grade Breathalyzers) the Drivealyzer was subjected to exhaustive testing for over three months by a US DoT approved laboratory; the full report is available on the website.

From freezing temperatures to desert heat - even vibration & humidity testing - it surpassed all the test requirements without a single failure.

Anti-fraud features are standard. Many operators fit CCTV in their vehicles, but in addition rolling re-tests can be required at random intervals. This prevents a ‘friend’ providing a surrogate breath sample at the start of the day in place of the driver (though very few sober people would deliberately help a drunk driver to start their vehicle!)

Due for release in 2012 will be a face-recognition “add-on” to completely prevent such incidents. Even low levels of alcohol can impair judgement leading to scrapes and dents. Fitting Drivealyzer across a fleet ensures drivers are effectively free of alcohol, reducing minor damage and insurance claims.

A serious drawback with other interlock devices is that they require expensive visits by technicians when calibration is needed. With the Drivealyzer, business continuity is assured due to the exchangeable breathalyzer handset - the base unit which controls the ignition and stores data is fixed. When calibration is required a replacement handset is sent out ahead of time and exchanged – simplicity itself.

Fitting a Drivealyzer can actually increase your turnover. Research has shown that it can provide the edge over competitors when tendering for new business - particularly in the Public Sector, for school bus runs etc.

Airlines have long proven that safety is a prime concern to passengers when choosing who they travel with; fitting both seatbelts and interlocks show that your company puts your passengers’ safety first.

Fitting an interlock device may even become a prerequisite to winning work - it is already mandatory for French coach operators who carry children to have an interlock device fitted, and an interlock is demanded by Swedish local authorities before work is awarded.

Company directors also benefit; by taking positive action to ensure their drivers are fit to drive, they reduce their risk of prosecution under Health and Safety legislation and the 2007 Corporate Manslaughter Act. Businesses are in control but completely supported with Drivealyzer. From software to download data and issue override codes, to adjusting the pre-set alcohol limit and re-test frequency, Drivealyzer flexes to the needs of different businesses and fleet operations.

Random testing as part of a company Drugs & Alcohol policy is certainly better than nothing, but fleets which install Drivealyzer often see a step change in the way drivers approach their duties. Proving your fitness to drive on every single trip is a different mindset to hoping you won’t get caught. Abstinence prior to work can bring about reduced absenteeism, improved productivity and better customer service.
